What Key-Date Coins Actually Sold For This Summer
Completed eBay sales of PCGS, NGC and ANACS coins from July 1, 2026 to September 30, 2026: the grade-band medians behind eleven of the hobby's best-known keys.
Bottom line: Grade moved the price more than anything else here. Across these keys, a Very Fine to XF coin typically sold for one and a half to six times the same date in Good to Fine. Compare a coin with sales in its own grade band, never with the date alone, and read every number below as a dated sales record, not a price guide.

What stands out
Condition is the price
The 1916-S Walking Liberty half shows it most sharply: a Good to Fine coin had a median of $150, a Very Fine to XF one $870. The 1927-S Standing Liberty quarter tells the same story ($100 against $365). More on how grade drives value.
The famous keys keep a floor even when worn
A Good to Fine 1916-D Mercury dime still had a median of $1,000 across 40 sales, and a Good to Fine 1893-S Morgan $5,200. With a mintage of 100,000, the 1893-S is the series' best-known key; a low-grade example is how most collectors own one.
One sale is not the market
Ranges are wide even inside a single band. Mint State 1909-S VDB cents sold from $2,782 to $7,600, because MS60 and MS66 sit in the same band and surfaces vary. Bands built on three to five sales are shown, but read them as a handful of transactions, not a settled level.
Using these numbers when you buy
Verify before you compare
The 1909-S VDB, 1916-D and 1893-S are among the most counterfeited US coins, and fake holders exist. Look up the certification number with the grading service and compare the coin with its images before any price matters. See how to spot a fake.
Match the band, then the coin
A price at the median of the right band is a starting point, not a verdict. Eye appeal, toning, strike and a CAC sticker all move individual coins above or below it.
Where these numbers come from
Each figure is a completed eBay sale of a coin certified by PCGS, NGC or ANACS, the three services whose certifications we show you how to verify. Problem coins (cleaned, damaged, details grades), replicas and multi-coin lots are filtered out, and a grade band appears only with at least three qualifying sales. The record covers sales through September 30, 2026 and is not a live feed. Sales are not a valuation of any particular coin. Full method on the methodology page.
