The “Micro O” problem
The 1896-O, 1900-O, and 1902-O "Micro O" coins, long listed as legitimate mintmark varieties, were determined to be contemporary counterfeits struck from a single set of false dies. Older references still list them as varieties. Treat a Micro O attribution as a reason for caution, not a premium.
